The Los Angeles Fire Department is proud to have widespread support from the Amateur Radio community in Southern California. If you are a licensed radio amateur (aka Ham Radio Operator), or would like to become one, we welcome you to join or support the efforts of the LAFD Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS), a local Fire Corps program.

For those in Los Angeles who would like to participate or monitor, the LAFD ACS Radio Net operates each Monday night at 7:30 PM local time. Those interested can check in on or listen to:

147.30 MHz (+) PL-110
-or-
224.68 MHz (-) PL-114
These frequencies serve the LAFD ACS Net for routine matters only at that time. If you join or monitor, you will be able to participate or listen to roll call, visitor and guest check in, as well as announcements of upcoming events.

ACS is an integral part of the Los Angeles Fire Department's communications infrastructure and has the full support of LAFD Administration. ACS volunteers are considered vital in supporting a wide variety of Department operations, especially in times of duress.

The Emergency Operations Organization of the City of Los Angeles has designated the Los Angeles Fire Department to manage its amateur radio program under the Auxiliary Communication Service agreement with the State Office of Emergency Services.

LAFD Fire Chief William Bamattre has authorized the Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) to enroll up to 500 licensed HAMS to back up the Department's 800 MHz radio system.

ACS members are subject to a background check and must meet the qualifications as a Los Angeles City Volunteer under the Mayor’s Office Volunteer Bureau’s requirements. They also must meet the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) Disaster Worker requirements.

If you would like more information on the ACS and its mentoring and training programs, please contact our Membership Coordinator via email to: membership@lafdacs.org
